Microsoft is expected to pause optional updates for Windows 10 starting in May. According to the company, starting May 2020, all supported versions of Windows 10 and Windows Server will temporarily stop getting optional updates defined as C and D updates.
The decision was made in light of the current spike of health concerns due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak and people are now working from home, and it’s crucial that devices and service state more reliable during this time.
In the announcement, the company say: “We have been evaluating the public health situation, and we understand this is impacting our customers. In response to these challenges we are prioritizing our focus on security updates.”
However, Microsoft isn’t stopping all updates, and the company will continue to release security quality updates to “ensure business continuity and to keep our customers protected and productive.”
