The new version of Microsoft Edge based on the Chromium engine developed by Google was originally launched on January 15, 2020, but it was available as an optional download for Windows 10 and macOS users.

Starting February 25, Microsoft has began the second phase of the rollout by beginning the automatic deployment of the new Edge browser through Windows Update for devices enrolled in the Release Preview ring of the Windows Insider Program.

Once the company feels confident, the rollout will continue to expand to all Windows 10 devices through Windows Update.

If you’re still using the legacy version of Microsoft Edge or another browser, you don’t have to wait to switch to the new version, you can always download the new browser from the Microsoft official download site.
