Although Microsoft is getting closer to unleash Windows Phone 8.1 to the public, it does not stop the company to continue improving the mobile operating system. This week the software giant released an update for the developer preview of Windows Phone 8.1, update that brings battery life improvements and bug fixes.
Originally Microsoft released the Windows Phone 8.1 update in the middle of April, and even though it was a build aim for developers to test, anyone willing to void the carrier’s warranty and setting up a developer account was able to download and install the update.
The new update is available immediately and users can simply go to Settings, Phone Update, and check for updates to download the new bits. Once the operating system gets updated the version will jump from 8.10.12359.845 to 8.10.12382.878.

Keep in mind that Windows Phone 8.1 has already shipped to phone makers, which means that it’s already RTM, and if you updated your phone in April, you have the final version. This is just an update to fix things before the software releases to the public.
For those still wondering, Windows Phone 8.1 includes an array of changes, improvements, and features including Cortana, Microsoft’s personal digital assistant — limited to U.S. for now –, new Start screen background personalization, highly requested Notification center, Word Flow keyboard, and many more features.
