Numerous users reported a couple of issues after installing the latest update to their Surface with Windows RT earlier this month. The new bug is causing Windows Update not to start properly or inability to search for updates. As reported by The Next Web, a quick fix involves to simply restart the tablet, but even then some users are seeing the problem back.
Microsoft is now issuing a statement confirming that indeed there is a problem. “Specifically, impacted Windows RT devices went into connected standby mode during the download of updates from Windows Update, causing the connection to be disrupted. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and are working to correct the issue“. And the company also said that an update fix to solve the problem will be available the first week of February.
The software giant hasn’t released a lot of information about the issue or what is the origin of the behavior. But at least RT tablet’s owners should feel a bit relieved that an update will be available in a few weeks.
