What Content Does Discovery Plus Offer?

In addition to programming from the Discovery, Discovery Plus includes content from various networks, including HGTV, Food Network, TLC, ID, OWN, Animal Planet, History, Lifetime, A&E, and more. Alongside familiar shows like The Property Brothers, The Pioneer Woman, and Pawn Stars, Discovery Plus will also feature exclusive original programming.

Discovery+ also has exclusive streaming rights for many BBC nature docuseries, including Planet Earth, Blue Planet, and Frozen Planet.

The streaming service plans to launch new programming from Chip and Joanna Gaines, formerly of Fixer Upper, comedian Kevin Hart, chefs Bobby Flay and Giada De Laurentiis, and David Attenborough, writer and nature documentary host.

Discovery+ is also premiering content from the Magnolia Network, a joint venture between Discovery and Chip and Joanna Gaines. It will include Fixer Upper: Welcome Home, Magnolia Table, a cooking series where Joanna shares her favorite recipes, a documentary about Chip’s journey to his first marathon, and much more. Magnolia Network will launch later in 2021. In all, the preview will include the first episodes of ten upcoming Magnolia Network original series.

How to Sign up for Discovery Plus

Discovery+ has two plans to choose from: $4.99 per month with ads or $6.99 per month without ads, similar to competing services like Disney+.

  • Go to discoveryplus.com and click Start Free Trial. You’ll have access to the streaming service for free for seven days.
  • Choose a plan. You can pay $4.99 a month if you’re ok with ads, or you can pay $6.99 a month for an ad-free experience. Click Continue.
  • Create a username and password and click Agree and Continue.
  • Input payment information and click Agree and Continue. The free trial will convert to a paid subscription if you don’t cancel first.
  • You’ll be automatically redirected to the Discovery Plus home page, where you can start browsing content.
  • You can browse by category, recommendations from Discovery Plus, and by the network.

Discovery+ partnered with Verizon to offer some customers up to a year free. New and existing wireless customers with specific unlimited plans get 12 months of Discovery+ free, while those with cheaper unlimited plans get six months. Customers who sign up for 5G or Fios Gigabit Connection internet service get 12 months free, while new Fios customers (non-gigabit) get three to six months on the house.
