As you know Microsoft is introducing yet another update to its popular Webmail service — Hotmail.com –. This new update brings Metro style design and re-brand name to Outlook.com, and while users will be able to keep their @Hotmail.com email address, the software giant is allowing users to upgrade their now old email addresses to the new @Outlook.com address. Users can upgrade in two different ways: by creating a new alias to your email account and selecting the new ‘@’ extension or by using the easy upgrade option in your current email account.

To create a new alias in Hotmail, simply follow the step-by-step instructions from this previous article.

To upgrade from @Hotmail.com to @Outlook.com do the following:

  1. Sign-in to your account.

  2. From the option’s menu in the top-right corner of the page, click on Upgrade to Outlook.com.

  3. Finally, click the Upgrade to Outlook button and you should be upgrade to the latest preview of Microsoft new Metro style Webmail service.

If you are worry about stop receiving emails from your old email address by changing the address to the new Outlook brand, don’t be — all emails coming to [email protected] will arrive with no problem to [email protected] new address.
